Our verdict

Star Arctic Hotel stands on top of Kaunispää fell, a few kilometres above Saariselkä village, with views over Urho Kekkonen National Park. Its eight Aurora Glass Cabins (20 m²) have a three-panel glass roof above the bed rather than a full dome.

The Aurora Sauna Suites (35 m²) swap the glass roof for wall-sized windows and add a private sauna. The restaurant and lounge bar get good marks, and the slopes start at the door.

Guests mention small cabins with little storage, wet-room bathrooms and expensive food and drink.
