Our verdict

SkyView opened on Ollerovaara hill outside Rovaniemi in 2025, and it was built around one idea: the evening should never depend on shared facilities. Every igloo suite has a heated 360° glass roof over the bedroom, a private Finnish sauna and a private outdoor hot tub. Most rivals offer one or two of the three, or keep them for their most expensive units.

The suites are big by igloo standards. The Signature Igloo Suite is 50 m² over two floors and sleeps four. The King Suite is 60 m², adds a second toilet upstairs and sleeps five. Downstairs there is a living area with a sofa bed and a fully equipped kitchen, so families and longer stays work here in a way that a 20 m² sleeping pod does not.

From October 2026 the resort adds Restaurant AURA, a Nordic kitchen with an Asian influence created with Finnish chef Tomi Björck, and Arctic Spa Culta with a heated rooftop infinity pool and a panoramic sauna. Breakfast is included with every stay. A free weekly programme (meeting the reindeer, a snowshoe walk and an aurora camp with a photographer) runs through the winter season.

Location is the other big advantage. Rovaniemi has the most direct winter flights in Lapland, and the resort is about 15 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes from the city centre and close to Santa Claus Village. Outdoor lights go off at 21:30 so the hill stays dark for aurora watching.
