What defines luxury in Lapland

Thread counts matter less here than space and privacy. The best high-end stays give you a suite large enough to live in, a private sauna and hot tub, a restaurant with a serious kitchen, and staff who arrange safaris, transfers and dinners around you.

Some luxury lodges are all-inclusive with fixed programmes; others give you a private base and let you choose. Decide which you prefer before comparing prices, as all-inclusive rates can look very high next to room-only rates.

Dining and wellness

Nordic cuisine built on reindeer, Arctic char, wild mushrooms and berries is a highlight of any trip. Resorts with their own restaurant mean you do not need a taxi on a −25 °C evening. For wellness, compare whether saunas and hot tubs are private or shared and whether there is a spa with treatments on site.

Luxury: frequently asked questions

What is the most luxurious place to stay in Lapland?

The leading options combine a large glass-roof suite, a private sauna and hot tub, and a destination restaurant on site. In our luxury ranking SkyView Igloo Resort leads, followed by Glass Resort and Jávri Lodge.

Are there all-inclusive luxury resorts in Lapland?

Yes. Jávri Lodge in Saariselkä is all-inclusive, with full board, guided activities and outdoor clothing, from about €2,100 per night for two. Most other resorts sell room and breakfast with optional dining and activities.

Is a luxury Lapland trip worth it?

If the trip is a once-in-a-lifetime occasion, the difference between a shared sauna slot and your own sauna and hot tub, or between a 20 m² pod and a two-floor suite, is noticeable every evening of the stay.
