How we rank
Each resort gets six split scores out of 10. The weighted total decides the standings, the same way a race is decided by the clock rather than by the commentary.
Splits and weightsOverall ranking
| Split | Weight | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Stay & rooms | 25% | Room size, layout and build quality across the resort's main room types, with extra weight for the units most guests actually book. A 20 m² sleeping pod and a 60 m² two-floor suite are not the same product, even if both have a glass roof. |
| Privacy & wellness | 20% | Whether a private sauna, a private outdoor hot tub and a glass roof come with the room, or only with the most expensive units, or not at all. Shared facilities you book by the hour score lower than your own. |
| Guest ratings | 20% | Calculated, not judged: the average of the resort's Google and Tripadvisor ratings (converted from 5 to 10 points) and its Booking.com score, on the date shown on each review page. |
| Dining, spa & activities | 15% | Restaurant, spa, breakfast, aurora alerts and activities you can book on site, plus how good guests say they are. |
| Location & access | 10% | Distance and transfer time to the nearest airport with regular winter flights, and how easy it is to reach towns, ski slopes and attractions. |
| Value for money | 10% | What is included for the starting price: breakfast or half board, sauna and hot tub, transfers, and how often reviewers mention extra charges. |
Category rankings
The “Best for” pages use the same split scores with different weights. The couples ranking gives privacy and room quality more weight; the family ranking gives more to room capacity and access. The weights are fixed for every resort in a ranking.
Where the data comes from
- Room types, sizes, inclusions and facilities: each resort's official website.
- Guest ratings: Google, Tripadvisor and Booking.com, read on the date shown.
- Prices: published “from” rates and Booking.com rates for the same night across resorts, where available. Prices are dynamic, so always check the live rate.
Updates
The rankings are reviewed before each winter season and when a resort opens, renovates or changes what it includes.
